A Brand New Brand

Three years ago, Jamie and I decided to combine our freelance wedding businesses. We got our first client inquiry minutes after launching our first website (seriously!), and we haven’t stopped moving since.

Last year was our busiest year yet, and from March through November we worked almost every weekend. It wasn’t until our final wedding at the end of November that we stopped to breathe and had a little “OMG, how did we do all that?!” moment. In February, the birth of my baby gave us the perfect opportunity to take a pause, celebrate the previous year, and decide how to tackle 2015.

And what we decided was to focus on the things we LOVE to do, and to do them in a way that allows more time with less clients, and more time with our families.

That means more design, more full service packages, and more florals.

It also means a new brand that reflects the changes we’re making and the direction we’ve sort of naturally been heading for the past year. We have so much love for Pink Peony Planning & Design because it propelled us into this crazy-awesome event world, but we’re really, really excited for State & Arrow Design Co.!

State & Arrow is a nod to one of our favorite places and a symbol of our friendship. We know that, at the end of the day, our dynamic as best friends is a big part of what sets us apart. This brand feels special, and it feels like us.

We’re 100% jazzed for this next part of the adventure, and we’re excited to have more time to share all of the pretty things we get to work on. Before we go, here are a few sneak peeks of our favorite projects from 2014. More to come!

Rob + Alana's Lovely Louisville Wedding

Meet Rob + Alana, two of our favorites. Aren't they just the cutest?

Rob and Alana serendipitously met on New Year's Eve in downtown Nashville as they both flagged down the same cab (seriously - like a movie). They ended up spending the night galavanting around Nashville's honky tonks and Rob serenaded Alana with some late night karaoke. He must have had one sweet singing voice, because the rest is history.

They got married on May 18 and we just had to share a little bit of their day!

We loved that they did a handfasting ceremony. Fun fact: A handfasting ceremony is an ancient marriage ritual made popular in Ireland and Scotland. This symbolic lashing together of the couple’s hands is the origin of the familiar expression “tying the knot.”

Their venue, the Marcus Lindsey, is a restored sanctuary that was built in 1898 at the center of the NuLu district in Louisville. The venue boasts it's original stained glass windows and hand-crafted cathedral ceiling. Yes, it was as beautiful as it sounds.

Hands down, our favorite detail of their wedding (and of their love story in general) is what we'll call the "love wall." The wall was a collection of memories that Rob had gathered throughout their entire relationship, from ticket stubs to cocktail napkins from the restaurants they had visited. On most of the items, he would write the date and a memory that they shared from that day/evening. They plan to continue adding to the wall throughout their relationship. We'll pause here for a resounding "awww!"

We're so, so happy that we got to be a part of this day. Congratulations Rob + Alana, we're wishing you many more amazing memories to add to your collection!

P.S. Did we mention that they went on a safari in Africa for their honeymoon? Or that they look as good in khaki as they do in their wedding attire?!

xo,
